Short film by Francis Hape.
The short film tells a subtle story about a whānau in Australia and a sister that visits. The sisters make a Māori cloak together and continue to bond. Its about inter whānau relationships. A short film made by Māori and about Māori.
Francis says “During a recent visit to our whānau (family) in Hervey Bay, Queensland, I wanted to capture my parents and aunty who were visiting from therir home of New Zealand. Our aunty Midge, is the matriarch of the ‘Peeti Whānau’ of Tamaki Nui A Rua. It was an honour to film them in their everyday lives,. The shoot was organic and a story unfolded about my mum and aunty in the process of making a Korowai or Maori cloak with thousands of feathers. There were to many storys involving my father so he sits nicely during this short clip. This clip is about our elderly and moments in a day of there live’s.
Cheers
Francis.
