For the first time, a New Zealander has been honoured by the Polynesian Cultural Centre in Hawaii with the Living Treasure Award for his work in performing arts. Tommy Taurima is the composer of waiata “Kōtiro Māori e”, “Tirama mai”, “Te Rina” and others.
